Oh the dreaded Keihin cough.

Ever notice Harley riders blipping their throttles at a stop? In today's world of fuel injection it is totally unnecessary, back in the day of Shovelheads, Knuckleheads, Ironheads, and other Milwaukee Monsters, ie Carburetor bikes, it was a must if you didn't want to stall at a spot. The carburetors used on those bikes were Keihin carbs, and they worked really well when adjusted and jetted correctly, the problem was even a lot of dealers couldn't do it correctly. The carbs had a tendency to cough pop and wheeze when lean, and they were almost always lean.

The reason Harley Riders blip their throttles now? Well either they have an older carb bike or...
they know that's what Harleys are suppose to do because that's what bikers did when these guys were kids.

One other possibility is their bike is a customized bike with a and they have it adjusted incorrectly, too lean.

It comes back to a saying I learned at a BMW dealership from an former Tech (now passed away), Just because you own it doesn't mean you should work on it.
