Did you know the U.S.Army had flying jeeps?


They did, they actually had to have an artillery piece attached to them so they wouldn't fly away...

OK, that parts not true, that jeep is just going a tad fast, I'll bet the towed gun was bouncing through the air a little later.

The actual flying jeep was an experiment that didn't really pay off well...


It wasn't fast, it stayed pretty close to the ground and it was difficult to maneuver.

Another flying jeep design was the Hafner Rotorbuggy...



This was a British design and as for ground travel, once it arrived at location, was not very flexible.

Although both designs can be listed as successful in one way, they both were precursors to the next phase of troop deployment...

































there was a WWII helicopter out there though....
