Jos and Max

Jos Verstappen was a formula One Race driver opposite Michael Schumacher in the Benetton Racing team and went on to other teams in F1 before leaving that series. Born in 1972 in Monetfort, Netherlands his career in F1 spanned nine years 1994 - 2003 (did not race in 2002) in eight teams. leaving the Benetton team he went to Simtek, Footwork Arrows, Tyrrell, Stewart, Honda, Arrows again, then Minardi. In all those years he acquired 17 points and made it to the podium twice.

Since F1 he moved onto the A1 series finishing 7th in the championship.

While his driving never really brought him the fame of a World Champion and he is not found in the record books as a F1 race winner, he was World Wide famous for a few minutes in 1994.
The race was at Hochenheim in Germany when his pit stop refueling went wrong.

He climbed out of the extinguished car unscathed except for having some burns around his eyes.

Now, enter Max Verstappen, Jos's son.

At seventeen Max was the youngest person ever brought into Formula One, many said he shouldn't be there, that he was too young to handle it.

Yesterday, at 18 years of age, Max held off the two Ferraris of Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel to become the youngest ever Formula One Race Winner on his debut with the Red Bull Senior team at the Circuit de Barcelona - Catalunya in Spain. In one race, without counting the points earned while driving for Toro Rosso he has eclipsed his fathers career points total. Add the Toro Rosso points and he is at 38 points and 6th in the Championship race. The points system is different than it was when his dad was driving, but I don't think Jos will mind, He looked pretty proud of his son at the end of the race.
