Sunday cage Founders day

At Breakfast at the Groton Townhouse, We Decided on cages because the return trip promised to be rather wet.  We rolled out of Montville a little late, around 1040, where four of us piled in one car. Straight up route 2 to route 91,then at Holyoke we took 141 into East Hampton.  We stopped graveside then headed east on route 9 across Massachusetts to Ware then south on 32 into Palmer for lunch. I am happy to say, Vinny's sign is still in place and looks sharp, we thanked Ruth and Ralph for forming the Club before heading out. I was surprised to see black squirrels there, I have never seen them this far north before.

For a ride in a cage it wasn't half bad, it allowed for a lot af talking amoungst the four of us. Leaving the cemetery in Easthampton we ran up route 10 in Northampton, then onto route 9 for a ride across that part of Massachusetts. As we were just about entering Amherst the phone rang, Dave Adams and Tom had just arrived at the cemetery and wanted to know if we wanted to join them for lunch at Bears Barbecue. Since the four of us already had decided on teh Steaming Tender in Palmer we declined. We took 9 east, down through Belchertown, Quabbin and into Ware, where (ware) we picked up 32 south. In Thorndike we crossed 181 into Three Rivers then ran south back to 181 into Palmer where we stopped for lunch.

Jack Daniels

Whiskey Bread Pudding
For lunch I had the "Famous Charbroiled Cheeseburger, Danny had Whiskey and bread pudding with beer, and bread pudding and beer, no that's not a typo, Danny likes Whiskey Bread Pudding. Reuben had some sort of chicken sandwich, while Doug ate Reuben, It was hard to watch and with Danny and I sitting between the two it was awkward.

After gloming down copious amounts of food we headed home down 32 to Willimantic where we stopped for coffee. Then it was 32 to 389 to 87 back to 32 to 2, 395 to 2A then down through back roads in Ledyard. The forecast of rain did not come true for us until we were running through Ledyard.

All in all a great day, I hear there were only two on bikes for that portion of the ride, Dave A. and Tom, I hope they made it home dry and safe.
