I hear the Beardinthewind is going away

I have been told that the blog beardinthewind.blogspot.com is going away. It is unfortunate but things are what they are. Over the years I received many comments on how good the blog was as a recruiting tool from other Chapter Chairmen.

 Here's a little beard history:

The Blog was the brainchild of then Club News Manager Ron Durand. He saw it as a way to stay in touch with the members who were more present day minded, not everyone wanted a sheet of paper news letter and by using the blog he could keep members of the Club up to date on rides, events and activities, plus his own insights as to the ups and downs, ins and outs, and his own philosophy of motorcycling. Ron found that more people followed the blog then ever did the printed newsletter. When Ron was diagnosed with Cancer he asked me to take over the blog in his absence, I agreed. I published the first copy of the beard in the wind at the end of 2008. I gave a copy to the club and I had a copy made for Ron. Ron loved it, it turned out he had always wished he had time to write a book, and here was something with his name on it.

Ron passed away and while I was willing to work the blog I was not willing to do the newsletter. The Club decided to have the New News Manager  take care of the newsletter and I would continue with the Blog. Later I gave up the blog in favor of my own and when the News Manager at the time didn't want it, (too much work) I handed the Beard in the Wind over to Vincent Sileo who has worked it ever since.

 Blog Founder and original "Beard"
Ron Durand.
