Why are you such a Moron?

This may not be aimed at all of you, but there seems to be a large number of people who are in the "screw everyone else, I'm in a hurry" mode of life.

You see it every day and for a while at the beginning of the Season it was costly, everyday for one week straight there were accidents because someone wanted to get past one more car. 

The same thing happens with accidents, there will be a sign that reads "left lane closed between 88 and 89 for Accident" and yet while 90% of the people are moving right so there won't be a delay or a jam at the accident scene, at least 10% stay out there till the last moment before trying to dive back in traffic. This not not only jams everybody and everything else up further, it can cause and has causes additional accidents.

Lets give you an example, 

You are driving through Groton Ct, in the right hand lane, blowing by cars which are doing 65 to 75mph, because you are in a hurry. You pass a small sign on both sides of the highway which reads "Right lane closes in 1/2 mile", Well you were moving right along, maybe you missed those. Then another sign appears...

Do you keep driving along oblivious to everyone else on the highway, or do you move over now?

Let me tell you a secret, if you keep driving along oblivious, then you are an asshole. 

I think there should be a speed sensor involved with lane mergers, if you are still doing lets say, over 70 in a lane that is ending, a steel cylinder should spring up out of the lane so you can wrap your sorry ass around it. Yeah you may die from it, but I don't really give a crap, anyone in any of those cars ahead could be injured or killed when you dive in front of them like an Asshole.
