Skyline D.

Skyline Drive, what can I say about it...

OK, if you are heading south, the Skyline is nice, beautiful views. But...it has a strictly enforced 35 mile an hour speed limit. According to other riders they don't even give you the 5 over break.
That said, it is a nice ride if you have the time, the same road a little further south becomes the Blue Ridge Parkway, and that is a blast if you like climbing and diving and leaning into the turns. Both have wild life but the Blue is free  and the speed limit is 45, in some places that is too fast. There is also a $15 toll for bikes to use the Skyline.

And I'm not talking about the bugs.

We had enough of the skyline and opted for a more down to earth route, 55 to 60 miles an hour on back roads. Except for the dirt road Pancake took us down. It was actually loose stone.

I did find out one small tidbit of information though, the pavement inside the tunnels is damp and slick, throwing the bike back and forth inside leads to some unique maneuvering to stay upright.

It's quite possible we set a new record for entering West Virginia,  we passed in and out of it somewhere around 10 times in the last two days. Every time you turn up a road you pass a West Virginia welcomes you sign, the thing is, you usually don't know you left, we have yet to see one Entering Virginia sign.

Currently we are back in West Virginia just outside of Harper's Ferry for the night.

So far there have been a few firsts for me on this trip, first time through PA on a motorcycle,  first time through Ohio on a motorcycle, first time to Ohio, first time in West Virginia on a motorcycle, first time in West Virginia, (also 2nd,3rd,4th,5th,6th,7th,8th,9th,etc time in West Virginia), first time on a motorcycle in Virginia, First time in Virginia.

First time I had a hush puppy, First time I had a Galley Boy Burger, first time at a Long John Silvers (no biggy ), first time at a Hardee's, first and last time at a Chick Fil A.

Tomorrow should take us through  Maryland (first time on bike) into PA to Silent Hill, I mean Centrailia to Dietrichs  (yes Cups, Dietrichs). Then across through the water gap.
