Felicity on Trade in day |
I picked up Felicity in 2010, I saw her at the local Dealer and instantly had to have her. I ended up getting a better deal at TSI Harley Davidson in Columbia (something else that is now gone). They didn't have her in stock and they had to find her at another dealer. Felicity was had a "Limited" paint scheme, which I didn't find out til after I got rid of her. She was Merlow Sunglo metallic and Cherry Red Sunglo Metallic, with gold pin stripes. I loved the way it swept over the tank. The day I walked in to pick her up she was sitting in service, I told the salesman, Wrong Bike, I didn't want a black and brownish red bike. I scared the hell out of him, but he explained it was the shop lights, sure enough, get her outside and there she was. Felicity was a dream. I still wanted a bike with Ape hangers and I had seen Street Glides with them. The thing is though, while apes on a Street glide are kind of cool looking, it doesn't make much sense to me to buy a bike with a full fairing then arranging to have your hands up in the weather. Felicity and I were together until 2012, I was tired of having a CB (added by a dealer) which didn't work, and she had an issue with an oil leak which ended up having to replace the primary drive. The work was under warranty, but she had a grind to her occasionally which seemed as if something wasn't quite lined up right in there.
In 2012 I traded her for a 2012 Electra Glide Ultra Limited, (Charlene), just like and ultra Classic without the old man crash bars wrapped around her.

Once again a fairing with no Apes. Charlene is currently my main squeeze, she is my ol' lady. unlike the other type of Ol' Lady she was only expensive at first, after you buy her some new trinkets and such you are done, sure there are the services due every 5000 miles, but it is a minute expenditure compared with the Ol' Lady that rides on the back. The female on the back of the bike is one of the most expensive accessories you can add to a motorcycle, and unlike parts for the bike, the payments never...ever...ever...end...never. They cost you money to get them, money to keep them, and as many have found out, a lot more when you get rid of them.
So Charlene and I are still together, she is my live on motorcycle, I still tell her, "Good Job" and give her a pat after extended cruises. Her colors are close to Felicity's just a little more mature looking, not so curvy. I occasionally see Felicity from time to time, I've run into her in Old Saybrook and again in Middletown. We have stayed friendly, she isn't upset about Charlene, and she has a new guy.
Now don't get me wrong, Charlene is a fantastic motorcycle, nothing like her, you can ride all day and still want to ride that night and the next day. She is fantastic, she also weighs in around 900lbs and there are times (like everyday) when I hate the thought of backing her out on the shed, up grade, in the dirt. Plus I still had an unfulfilled wish of Ape Hangers. So...Jenny, Jenny is a 2007 Super Glide, I added apes and forward controls. bought her two new seats, both looked really great on her...both sucked for riding.

Back with the stock seat |
They were red alligator skin leather, the first was too small the second was larger but both of them seemed to have been designed to throw you off the bike. They were spring seats and slippery as hell, so a ride on the highway of 20 miles and your arms were dead because you spent the entire time hanging onto the apes for dear life. So she is back to the stock seat which I have found is quite comfortable. As I have told many people, if Charlene is my lady, Jenny is my slut, she is fast and fun but you wouldn't want to live with her all the time. Jenny is my throw her on the street, lets go, and lets go fast, baby. Right after I picked her up I hit the highway and opened her up, Sandwich, who was riding Charlene, said he gave up the chase at 110, because as he said, "You were still pulling away". I love that little bitch, she is nothing but fun. As of late though she has had a couple issues, pre-detonation for one, stalling for another. most days she's fine, but occasionally you start her up and take her out and she farts and bangs on deceleration and shoots flames out the tail pipe, when you stop she idles down to death like she's running out of fuel. once she dies, a restart will fix her and she will run fine. The Service manager at the local dealer thinks it may be the power commander. He says' they are great off the shelf, but they have a tendency to die and leave you stranded.
So when I get a chance I'll be dropping her off, they can give her a look see, maybe an enema, clear out her stomach ache and we can get back to the road.
By the way, Charlene doesn't mind me seeing felicity from time to time...
I don't think she cares for the new girl or sharing.
