Not for the mild mannered,
Saturday we will be having a bank into the corners, sweep through the hills, motorcycle break in run. The "Four Corners Run"
Saturday promises to be the Coldest morning so far, with a high in the day of 54 degrees with sun and clouds. The day should start out at a nippley 31 degrees Fahrenheit, yes that below freezing, but only in this country. If this was Europe it would be -0.5555555555555556 Celsius. Because if it were 31 degrees Celsius it would be 87.8000001 Fahrenheit and anyone can ride in that.
The ride will start out early, (we don't want to miss out on the cracked lips effect), probably about 8:30am.at DD. It will shoot across the bottom of the State, route 32 to route 1 in New London, then 156 I-95 (bridge over the CT.) to 154, route 154 will take us north through Essex to Ivoryton and Deep River and route 80. We will cruise on 80 to New Haven Ct. where we will pick up I.91 south to route 34. Route 34 will drop us on route 15, the Wilbur Cross Parkway, then Merritt Parkway. We will drop off the Merritt in Norwalk and run up 123 to New Canaan and hook a ride east on 106. 106 will take us to route 7 in Wilton. We will then jump right off on route 33.route 33 will run into 35 in Ridgefield and 35 will take us back to route 7. Route 7 will take us into danbury where I plan to be lost for a little while trying to find route 39. Route 39 will take us to route 55 where a right turn will put us back on route 7. In Cornwall Bridge we will pick up route 4 then 41 north in Sharon. Route 41 will run into route 44 in Lakeville and we will follow that to Canaan for Lunch at the diner.
We will roll out of Canaan on 44 and in Norfolk pick up route 182 which will run us east to 183 and back on 44 to route 8 in Winsted. North on 8 will take us to route 20, through Riverton and across the top of Barkhamstead Resevoir in North Hollow. 20 will take us down through the Granbys to Hartland for Mountain road over to 189 and south to Salmon Brook. we will pick up 187 north to 526 then 168. 168 to Suffield Depot and Bridge street east to 159. We will cross the river on route 190. 190 will run through Stafford and drop us on 197. route 197 will run us up to the Mass state line in Quinebaug where we will grab 131 south and in North Grosvenour Dale will will take route 12 south. We will take 12 down to Plainfield then 14 to 14a and route 49 at Ekonk Hill. route 49 will run us south to Pawcatuck for route 2 to route 1, then west on 234 to route 27 in Old Mystic and 184 back to the Thames River and home.
Of course,I will probably get lost a few times so the route may vary a tad.
Why is this a "Break in Ride"?
I don't know
As I attempted to back my bike down the driveway this evening, on my way to class, I found it very difficult to back up. I didn't have time to check it out, so I hopped in the car and went to class. The first thing I suspected was a flat and sure enough, checking the air in the rear tire, found there was none. So I'll be getting a new tube (hopefully that's all) while you are doing this epic ride. I'm truly sorry that I'll miss it. Not the cold part though!! My bike has no protection and no heated parts other than the engine.
