Hope, Love, Cure Ride, Team Avery

Great turn out by the Club. The Club met in Flanders at the Four Corners, (weirdly enough called, Flanders Four Corners),  They rolled out a little after 9:30 and headed south on the Interstate. The only thing to say about the ride down was that the Club had to slow dramatically, (some people more than others, as a Deer cleared the northbound lanes, the Jersey Barrier, and the south bound lanes in front of us. This caused a little tire smoke towards the rear on the consist. On arrival for the Benefit at Clark Memorial Field, vests were handed out for those performing Road Guard Duty during the Event Ride. Two State Police motorcycles lead the event with 20 Club Road Guards formed behind them and the Event's Road Captain. The two Officers rode ahead side by side, as an intersection came close one of them would take off up the road. As he did this the second Officer would signal back with raised fingers how many Guards were to go with him. The officer that raced ahead would block the intersection in question as the Second Officer maintained the pace in front of the ride. the dispatched Road Guard would take the officers place stopping traffic as that officer again joined the front of the ride. As the tail end of the ride came up the Road Guards would fall in in front of Tom. Of the Twenty members wearing Reflective NLMC vests for Guard duty only 14 were used.

I am not sure how an event like this makes any money, With a live band, A Macaroni and Cheese Truck, a Hot Dog and drinks truck, a Beer line, and three food lines (One each for Chicken, Burgers, or Pulled Pork) plus sodas, corn on the cob, etc all included with the price of the ride admission. All I can say is there must be as many people donating foods and goods as there are volunteering to work the event.

Here are some cell phone photos of the event, (Cell phone cameras are handy in that they are always with you, but unlike a small digital camera in your pocket, it is very difficult to use both hands on the camera and hold on to the bars) So...no in-flight movies (pix).

Putting on the Garb

Riders arrive and begin to line up. First in line out, first in line back, first in line for food.

Bikes weren't the only critters there, A load of Classic Convertibles and Rods were on display also.

Filling up nicely

Dusting and such, I told them dirty means ya ride it. (Don't think they agreed)

It was a tad cool in the morning, meaning I wore a leather jacket and vest, by 10:30...it was down right toasty. Hot even.
 Waiting in the shade,

Letting the Guards know how it was going to work,
He said, "HEY, This is how it's gonna work."

None of us being as quick or as smart as we used to be, each processed the information.

Getting ready to head out

No, Tom is not going the wrong way, well he is, but he's not going the wrong way because he doesn't know the way, he is going the wrong way because he wants to...
You know something...that doesn't sound any better.

Actually he's doing his "Tom" thing, riding to the rear to make sure everyone going, is ready.
