There are thousands of coin types all over the world, some used today, some no longer,





Often coins were created to commemorate people, places or events...

So,

What do you suppose these bought?








And what did the rest of the set look like?

These are Roman Spintriae, typically they are just a little smaller than our quarter. While no definite purpose of these coins has been discovered in documentation, it is believed that they may have purchase what they depict. With the Roman Empire stretching as far as it did, covering so many territories and languages, this coin is believed to have bridge the language gap. The cost of the act one one side of the coin and an illustration of the act on the other. According to historians there were many styles of these coins.
