All Lime Rock photos were taken with a pocket 10 mega-pixel clam-shell camera in 2002 and 2003.

2002 was also the first year for this car, the BMW Z4. Ask me sometime about Natalie borrowing the car to"take it for a ride a couple minutes". |
In 2002 the gate price was cheaper than now, but I bought advanced tickets anyway. Arriving in the Z4 I was picked out of the line getting in to park and sent to Lot 10. Lot 10 is inside the gate. You see, Lime Rock has a rule that whomever is sponsoring the event, those cars get in free. The Historics at the time were the BMW - Rolex Sponsored Historics, So my Dealer loaner Z4 and I got in the gate without paying. Of course there was nothing they could do about the fact that had already paid...online.

This, by the way, is Lot 10. Still, Jeffery and I made a hit with the fans. At work we heavily invested in BMW Lifestyle goodies. When BMW broke up with Williams racing in Formula One they placed all the dual branded F1 items for sale at ridiculously low prices, a 1:10 scale die-cast F1 car was $10.00. A Scalextic F1 race track was $100.00. We bought it all and the techs cleaned us out. They said if BMW ever has a discount like that again. they would buy it all again. Well, BMW put a sale on BMW Team USA and BMW Motorsports items later that year..we bought heavy...the Techs bought nothing. The owner gave me permission to write it off and give it away. So, we arrived at Lime Rock with a trunk load of backpacks, dufflebags and tote bags to give away. We were mobbed and it went fast. It's amazing how nobody will buy a bloody item sitting on a shelf, but offer it free and you get mobbed.

The Three Wheeled Morgan lead the race for about five laps before falling back |
Franziss Over heat, Thank God for Crystal Rock and Poland Springs. A hose or two in the Pit Lane would seem to be appropriate when antiques are about.
