And like with all wonderfully good Hispanic food, it comes in a greasy wrap or bag.
Quite a lot of my favorite foods are bought in cities like Hartford, New Haven, Providence, Boston and New York. They come from restaurants sporting yellow lit, fogged up windows with the words Cuchifritos painted across them. Buy the time you are back home the paper bags are translucent from the escaping grease.
But I digress...
Three Pigs comes wrapped in grease soaked paper
As you unwrap it you slowly reveal waxpaper covering cheese.
Removing the paper and pealing back the cheese leads to the discovery of a sub roll, lined with smoked bacon, a layer of ham, and filled with pulled pork. (hence...three pigs), it is all wrapped around a sweet pickled plantain and covered with Sofrito then topped off with Swiss cheese.
I would tell you where to get one and how much they are but I don't know, this one arrived over my counter as a gift, and who am I to turn down a gift...It would be rude.
