Portland Oregon promotes pedestrian safety

The City has had new creative crosswalks installed to promote pedestrian safety. The cross walks are made out of a thermal plastic and glued down, the surface has reflective patterns that will illuminate at night by reflected light from the street lights.

This only leaves one question in my mind. How are they at displacing water. People driving in cars don't think about it very much, if at all, but if you are on a motorcycle in a corner over a crosswalk in the rain, you know how slippery it gets. Will these plastic panels make it worse?
