It  turned all right for the King in the movie, no matter how the movie made out. he went into Space on Friendship 7, He became a German Sniper, He supervised the NASA Apollo Flights, Taught math and Hooked up with a Prostitute, became a Mercenary in South America, and yes, was unfortunately killed when he took over Alcatraz.  

Of course, all that was after he finished his magazine.
