The battery on Charlene needs replacing, it holds a charge but for about a two days...$$$
The house has decided to have a leak somewhere in the new roof...$$$$?????
And now I decided to put a battery charge wire on Jenny...
That should be a straight forward easy addition, correct?
Remove the seat, one bolt, Remove the side cover...One screw,
Undo the rubber securing strap, remove the battery cables, two screws,
Slide the battery out,
Slide the battery out,
Slide the F@#king battery out...
Do you see that bolt above the positive cable on the frame?
I have a sneaking hunch, just a hint of an idea that ...it is not the original bolt.
You see, this IS one of the major draw backs to purchasing a second or third hand motorcycle, you just don't know who worked on it last, or what their capabilities were.
I believe this was a case of either, they lost the original bolt and found one the same thread and pitch size, oooooooor, they had them all out and this one did not go back in the correct spot. There were two clues that I should have seen right away that something was amiss,
First the battery should slide right out,
Second, The bolt on the opposite side has three washers on it between the head of the bolt and the bike frame, which means it's probably wrong also.
Any Hoooo, it is very hard to pull a battery out when it has a bolt threaded in about a 1/2 into the top of it.
