On the way to work this morning, during the Bob and Tom show, there was a commercial for Seat-belts, "Seat Belts Save lives, that's why we enforce that law".
Well, that's a crock, and yes, seat belts save lives and reduce injuries, but the law was not actually pushed for and passed for your or my benefit. The Seat Belt Law is a Federal Law, "Federal".
Do you really think anyone in the Government decided and the rest agreed, on passing any law for "our" benefit, Come on, this is the Government we're talking about. The United States is a Capitalist country, it thrives and survives by making money, everything in this country works by making money.
The Seat-belt laws were introduced by and lobbied for by the insurance companies. Remember? It was in all the papers. Insurance Companies are not a Humanitarian institution, they are there to make money just like everyone else. Yes, they want to keep you alive and yes, they want to keep you healthy, because, like in their commercials, you are wonderful, and they care for and love you. No, corporations are not Fuzzy. The more people they can keep from getting serious injuries, as in hospital bills paid for by the insurance company, the more money they get to keep. it is that simple.
Just like the Health Insurance laws, do you really believe the Government, any Government, would give a Rats Ass whether or not you had insurance if there wasn't something in it. by pushing Health Care, they look like bright wonderful people to those who get it for free, and Doctors and Hospitals all over the country still get to make money.
"Make Money" the government wants us all to pay for each others coverage, because if we don't they would have to.
