Obey...OBAY..EBay? Obey

By now you have most likely all seen the newest wave of law enforcement slogans, 

We have finally stopped seeing "Click it or Ticket" ,

 now they have

 "Obey the sign or pay the fine".

Rhode Island is in full swing with this logo. And let me tell you.....
It would probably be more effective as a billboard. You see, Rhode Island has the saying posted on everyone of their over the highway electronic message boards, but there is no reference to which sign, just the slogan.  

So the message reminds me of the movie "L.A. Story" where Steve Martin has conversations with a highway sign, because it is not talking to everyone...just him.

I mean it leaves me to wonder, are the Rhode Island signs actually advertising the safety slogan, or are the signs Omnipotent, and we should obey them, is this a message to us all that we must "Obey the Sign, it knows all, and if we don't, we will pay the fine"

is it talking to us all? Or just me?
