Back in 1976 I had my first job, cleaning and prepping cars (now it's called recon), at Stonington Subaru. This was, as far as I know, the only Recon job that included, besides washing, cleaning, and prepping cars, changing exhaust systems, alternators, plugs, and belts, plus flying for parts , making deliveries, and picking up and dropping off customers. The place had two Ford Pickups for use, a 1966 and a 1967. Now, you would think this would be a step up, seeing as I was driving a 1957 Chevrolet 1/2 ton pickup....it wasn't.
Both trucks required that you kept a spare case of oil in their beds, one truck burned it, leaving a James Bond smoke screen behind, the other leaked it, (James Bond oil slick). Before you left for somewhere and before you got ready to head back you added oil, Lots of oil.
And to be totally honest, I think they were ugly...
I think my 57 was better looking.
