Back in the day, Companies built motorcycle seats with some sort of suspension, quite a few were bicycle style because that's what they knew.

The idea was to make it a comfortable ride, something that allowed you to ride further.

Today aftermarket companies offer spring seats to give your bike that "old look". but somewhere along the line they seem to have forgotten that the main reason for a motorcycle is to ride it, not look at it.

Today's throwback seats are made for looks only, no thought for ride ability. I know, I have a couple of these seats... and anyone who tells you that they are comfortable doesn't side more than 25 miles at a shot.

Hint, a 1/4 inch thick gel pad is about as useful as a bullet proof vest made out of newspaper
