Day three 3 a stretched out ride home.

There's some really nice roads on the west end of the state, and my favorite time for riding is early morning, I like watching the sky lighting up, that moment as a bright ring, an illuminated edge crawls across the horizon, then the sun itself makes an appearance. This time of the year adds to the effect, with the sun comes warmth and the chill night begins to fade, lingering in shadows and valleys until the sun reaches the heights. We didn't have that this day, well we probably did, but we weren't on the road for it. We hit the road about 7:30 and like the day before it was hoodys, gloves and leather, although unlike the first day, no chaps.

We made our way east on 82 then 343. 343 joined 22 in Dover Plains and it was already time to get rid of the leather for Hoodys and cut off gloves, we made a stop for coffee at Cousins Mini Mart where old route 22 splits off. This place has plenty of pastry and real foods, but for us it was a donut and coffee.

We followed 343 east through Amenia and into Connecticut at Sharon where we picked up route 4. I was trying to work out a route home that would take its time getting us there. In Goshen we hooked a right onto 63 passing the Fairgrounds. We followed it down to Watertown where we dropped the last of the extra clothes, Tee shirt weather all the way. Not wanting to hit Waterbury, we backed up a block an picked up route 6 east and north through Thomaston and into Bristol for 72 through town. In Plainville we used 372 and stopped at Mangiaficos for Sfogliatella and cookies. Then it was south on route 10 down through Plantsville and Meridan and again to avoid extra traffic we grabbed 691 east to 15 south, jumped off onto 5 then took 103 south to route 80. At the rotary in Madison we stopped for breakfast or I guess lunch. Doug was a little shy about stopping at a pizza house, especially after the sample from the night before, but this one had an important word on the glass, three words actually, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. But Breakfast was the word that had him agree to stop. Circle Pizza. We grabbed a couple sandwiches, sat down with something to drink and took a couple minutes to relax. Then it was back on 80 into Deep River, 602 into Essex, 604 across to Bokum road. Why is it there are so many Sunday Drivers out on Sunday, can't they pick a different day? We crawled down Bokum road all the way to 154 which we took to route 1 and I95 across the river to 156. We stopped for fuel in Sound View then home via new London, I95 and 184.
