The Christian Religion did it ever exist?

Christians often complain how they can't publicly display Nativity sets because other religions don't appreciate it. They can be heard complaining that the other religions can do as they wish and yet Christians can't.

Here's a thought, perhaps we brought it upon ourselves, has any other religious group allowed their religion to be as bastardized as we?  The turn the other cheek bit may be fine an dandy but at what point does turning the other cheek equal the disappearance of a belief. We can't wish anyone a Merry Christmas any more, it's Happy holidays, wouldn't want to upset anyone. So if you can't name a religious holiday, how do you defend your religion? I myself do not get upset when someone tells me Happy Hanukkah, or a Happy Kwanzaa, I thank them, I take the blessing as I hope they intended it, as others should ours.

But then do we really have a religion anymore? The two most important days of the religion are Christmas and Easter.. A day about a Magical fat man bearing gifts and another about a small fuzzy mammal running around hiding eggs, oh yeah, and once again, bearing gifts for Children. You ask a child today what either day is and you will get those answers. You ask many young adults what Easter is and they actually have no idea. This is because we have moved the holidays so far away from their origin that there is no connection.

So why should other religions respect ours, we don't, in a couple decades if we're still around, ask a young adult what Christianity was about, they'll probably tell you it had something to do with credit cards and Toys R Us.

So who's to blame for all this?   When you send Christmas cards are they scenes of religious origin or do they have that fat guy on them, or perhaps a pretty Snow covered village somewhere in the country. After all, if memory serves, part of the trouble the wise men had getting to Bethlehem and the reason Joseph and Mary were in a stable was because of all that snow that fell in the desert in the winter of 1BC or was that 0AD, even I can't wrap my head around that one, did we wait until January 1st to go AD, was it the moment of birth or the first birthday?

So maybe we should stop complaining about our religion being stepped on and be the first ones to take our boot prints from it. If you are going to raise your children in this faith, you might want to teach them at least something about it. Spreading the word of God needs to start at home.

Just for the record, I am far from what you call religious, The only time you see me in church is for weddings and funerals, and I try to avoid both of those.
