In 2015 you have
The Street models, 500 and 750
The Sportster, sounds easy enough, but then in that family you have:
Then there is the Dyna: But you see, like the Sportser, the Dyna is a Family not a bike,
Then there's the Softail family:
Then the V-Rod
Then you move up to the "Touring" models
- Road King®
- Street Glide®
- Street Glide® Special
- Road Glide®
- Road Glide® Special
- Electra Glide® Ultra Classic®
- Electra Glide® Ultra Classic® Low
- Ultra Limited
- Ultra Limited Low
Then there is the CVO family, Custom paint, bigger engine, extra trinkets and doodads, extra money
And finally there are the trikes:
This may bring you to the question, what is the difference between a Dyna and a Softail, well you may as well start with what's the difference between a Dyna and a Dyna. For years Harley Davidson has mixed and matched parts to create different models, Change the bars, the pipes, an alternate engine, a different side cover...Viola..different model. It saves money, Auto companies do it also, they use one platform for multiple vehicles.
Here is the Sportster family and the two members of the new Street family:
Dyna: (here's a tip, if it's a "Bob" it's a Dyna)
The SuperGlide and SuperGlide Custom are also in the Dyna Family, just not this year, just like the LowRider wasn't there a year or so ago, they come, they go.
Fastest and easiest way to tell the difference between a Dyna and a Softail...
Softail Family (Softails have Boys, no Bob's)
As you move up the line from Street to Sportster to Dyna to Softail to V-Rod to Touring to Trike, the bikes of each family are larger than the last.
All photos are free wallpapers from the H-D site, click on them and once they open you will get full size.
Future post will show Touring, CVO's and Trikes.
Side note, I love the 72's, with that great big flake metallic paint, the peanut tank, but I am too tall and too fat to use one. Look like a 40 year old virgin on a moped. (remember those?)
