Here's a convoluted story for you, try to keep up...
Let's talk Rolling Rock, The Rock was brewed by Latrobe Brewing Company in Latrobe PA. It was one of the largest brewers in the US of A. Then in 1987 latrobe was bought by Labatt, which was bought by Belgian brewer Interbrew. Interbrew sold the Rock Brands to Anheuser Busch (the largest US of A brewer), But not the plant. Anheuser Busch makes the Rolling Rock brands in Newark, New Jersey.
Interbrew signed paperwork with City Brewing Co. from La Crosse Wisconsin for them to negotiate the use of the Latrobe Plant, which they did, and in 2006 started making Samuel Adams through an agreement with the Boston Beer Company. Boston Beer pledged a 2 to 7 million dollar upgrade to Latrobe. In 2008 the plant laid off it's workers and closed. Boston Beer moved it's Sam Adams operations to....the Schaefer plant...in Allentown PA. Iron City Brewing signed with City brewing to produce beer at Latrobe. In 09 Southhampton brands Double White, IPa, Altbier, Pumpkin and Imperial Porter were moved to Latrobe from Lion brewing. City brewing making Iron City beer, Stoneys and Stoneys Light. In 2012 Diago (A London England multinational Alcoholic beverage Company) moved it's U.S. supply of Red Stripe from Jamaica to City Brewing in Latrobe where that company is also making Guiness Blonde.
So what it seems is, Beer is Beer, brewed by anyone at any time, so save a nickle and buy the cheap shit.
