Anyone for Tilapia?

You can tell we have obliterated the worlds fish supplies when you see that where once Cod, Haddock, and flounder reigned supreme on the Fish dinner line up, today we have Tilapia.

A friend of mine moved her from the Dominican Republic and one of the first fish they offered him in a restaurant was Tilapia. "Tilapia", he said, "back home we throw them back, they are a garbage fish".

Let me tell you something about Tilapa, It is going to start with Striped Bass Aquaponics.

The Striped Bass levels in the wide have seriously declined, along with the Salmon and other food fish. Today a large supply of Striped Bass come from fish farms, where they are grown, fed and given antibiotics to cure Strep Throat. (Yes). Once the Striped bass have become big enough to process, Tilapia are introduced to the growing pens. Tilapia help purify the water by eating the left over food and sewer waste from the Striped Bass. Growing fat on fish waste the Tilapia, when they reach a sufficient size, are sold to the Food industry where they find their way to your plate.

Hmmm, might I suggest a nice grilled Poop fish and a bottle of Ripple.

  1. That's what they used to say about pigs and we all love bacon. Too bad tilapia doesn't taste as good as bacon.
