Checking your oil can be messy, and it takes time. It's not hard but you have to remember to do it and many of us don't.
Well Harley offers the illuminated oil dipstick, just push the button, read and ride.

The unit is LED and with just a push of the button allows you to see your oil information, as in Temperature and amount. Each mark is roughly a tenth, if no blocks are lit you are down a half quart. The bike above is down about a tenth.

Now, as you can see the unit looks pretty good as well.

There are two downsides I must mention, first, the unit is $149.99

That's one fifty 

Second and more important, I have had three of these, one on the Dyna, one the StreetGlide, and one on the Limited. If you ride in the rain, kiss $150.00 good-bye. 

These units have one thin o'ring sealing them and it doesn't work, first the unit starts to condensate, then the lines start to break up. What you end up with is a dipstick with a big head and a non working display you paid too much for.
