Ya can get there, just don't go that way

I had text messages today at work about the accident on I-95, "Stay off 95 North it's all backed up"
. Then I started getting messages and phone calls, Groton is a disaster you can't get through anywhere. My first inclination was to head west to 395, pick up 2A, then 214 across to 117. But I said the hell with it, I jumped on 95 North at rte 85 in Waterford  in case the bridge was a parking lot i could get to the left lane before I got there, flew across the bridge, grabbed 184 and was smiling. Then as I approached the intersection at Kings Highway I could see everyone was in the intersection, nobody wanted anyone else to go first and since 184 was parked they all dove to the middle and locked each other up.

This is the point where I decided to go Hillbilly. With a light rain falling I dove through the parking lot of Five Guys, grabbed kings Highway down to route 12. Twelve took me north, I was thinking of Tollgate road, and or Gungywamp road, but not knowing where the main problem on 184 was I decided 117 might not be far enough over. So I cruised past the Submarine base to Long Cove Road and started the ride into the hills, working the corners and hills, across Christy Hill to Vinegar Hill, down through the corners to Whalehead, a right turn then an attempt at another right onto Sandy Hollow across the reservoir to 117 then shoot across that to Lambtown. Started to bang the right but the road is blocked, barriers, Sandy Hollow closed. Fly down to 214, east through the corners and twisting up hill, past Pancake Possum corner, up hill, more twists, catch the light at 117. Straight across on 214, roar over the hill past the highway speed sign saying 30mph flashing ...a different number.  Accelerate back downhill, hook a right onto Spicer Hill road, climb up meet the three way stop at Gallup Hill. Through the Highlands, bagpipes blaring (no, no bagpipes), onto Pumpkin hill, twisting and turning running down hill again and out onto 184 at Cow Hill. No traffic on 184. Cow Hill clear, light rain still falling, continue enjoying the ride.

Truth is, I was in a cage...

tomorrow,

if the weather is nice, I might take that same route on the bike.

Hell, maybe I'll go that way to work.
