Working on the house

This is a small example of how work progresses on my house. In case you are unaware of it, I have been having work done to repair and or refurbish the house. Between last May and June the accomplishments were many, a new roof, gutters and downspouts, the chimney re-pointed, a garage added, a dehumidifier and sump pump combination installed, (the dehumidifier dumps the water (via a short hose) into the sump well where the sump pump shoots the water outside. A bedroom stripped and repainted, the hall and kitchen stripped and painted. Since then, (end of June to, well... now),  I have been working on the living room, it would be fairly easy to say the sense of urgency about completion has waned. I can give you an example:

Last night Reuben came over and I put him to work on the mouldings. He moved the miter box to the middle of the work area, got out the tape measure, measured the area along the floor at the staircase. He then cut a vertical 45 degree angle on one end of the moulding and followed it with a horizontal 45 degree angle on the other. Placed the moulding along the wall and we determined, (once again), that the stair angle was steeper than 45, so a manual correction was needed. We looked at the end in question, checked the difference that needed to be cut off the top edge leading down to the base, sat down, turned on the television and watched a movie.

I call it a productive evening, we almost got one moulding on.
