I had my nerve mapping yesterday and skin grafts. nerve mapping...cool, grafts...not so. The pieces they take out of you are small a 3mm square 4mm deep. It does not hurt when they remove these, what does hurt is the local they give you. When they tell you that you will feel a little pinch, they are correct, what they should include is that after the little pinch there is a burn. Like a cigarette head fell on your leg. As for the mapping, I would volunteer for these every day if I had to. The test consists of having electrodes connected to your ankle, your hip and your arm pit, they then make you exhale softly for five seconds, then inhale slowly for five times, they have you repeat this about six times. They lie you on your side and wait, then comes my favorite part, they lie you on your back, put a pillow behind your head and under your knees, (Maybe I should have said they use two pillows, because having a pillow behind your head and under your knees would probably require a contortionist). Once you are propped u they turn the lights off, say their good nights and leave for to sleep for almost a half an hour. When they wake you up they require you to sit up fast, swing off the table and onto your feet. Test done.
The next morning you can change the bandages, it is rather unnerving seeing the amount of blood and goop the old bandage has collected from such small holes.
